Summer Time!

Summer is here! For many, that means a lot more time spent soaking up the sun.

Dr. Riahi has some important information he wants you to know about sun exposure.

  • Photodamage (or skin aging) is a constant process! Dr. Riahi spent 3 years working on research regarding skin aging and the sun. His findings demonstrate that all sun exposure, even minimal sun from walking and driving, adds up over time. This leads to wrinkles, sun spots, and aging of the skin.
  • Skin cancer prevention starts as a child! Childhood sunburns increase the risk of developing skin cancer later in life. It is tempting to let kids run to the pool without sunscreen, but realize preventing sunburns and excessive sun exposure as a child/teen can decrease the risk of developing skin cancer later in life.
  • Hats, sunscreen, and protective clothing! Avoiding excessive sun exposure doesn’t have to be hard. Use protective clothing, hats and sunscreen and enjoy your time outside!

Skin cancer does not discriminate and can impact individuals of any age or race. Please come see Dr. Riahi immediately for any concerning skin growths, changing moles, or new spots.
