Laser skin treatments and skin resurfacing treatments like microdermabrasion are great at improving a wide range of skin concerns, such as fine lines, wrinkles, discoloration, acne, and more. But with so many options available, you may be asking, “What is the best option: laser skin resurfacing, non-laser resurfacing, or another type of laser treatment?”
The more knowledge you have about different skin treatments, the easier it will be to choose the right one for your specific skin concern. In this post, let’s discuss some of the most effective skin treatments, including AviClear™, microdermabrasion, Clear + Brilliant, Fraxel® DUAL, and more.
Laser Acne Treatment
If you are experiencing acne as a teen or adult, you know how difficult it is to find the right treatment. AviClear is the first and only FDA-approved laser treatment to improve mild, moderate, and severe acne.
What Is AviClear and How Does It Work?
This treatment can give you the same results as isotretinoin—which you may know by its former brand name Accutane—but without the oral medication’s potential adverse side effects.
AviClear uses energy wavelengths to target sebaceous glands in your skin. Treated sebaceous glands produce less oil, reducing pore inflammation and irritation. Although AviClear impacts the sebaceous gland, the surrounding tissues are left unharmed.
Am I A Good Candidate for AviClear?
The good news is that AviClear works on almost any skin type. This laser treatment can also improve various types of acne, such as cystic acne, hormonal acne, whiteheads, blackheads, and more. No recovery or downtime is needed after AviClear, so you can undergo this treatment whenever it’s convenient.
Skin Resurfacing
How Does Microdermabrasion Work?
Microdermabrasion exfoliates the skin’s surface with ultra-fine particles to improve hyperpigmentation, scarring, enlarged pores, and facial lines. After your treatment, your provider will apply a moisturizer to soothe and hydrate the treated areas. There is little to no downtime required for microdermabrasion, and you can resume your regular schedule.
Am I A Good Candidate for Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is suitable for all skin types and shades but is not usually the best option for sensitive or pigmented skin. Those with active acne breakouts, eczema, active rosacea, or autoimmune disorders should not have a microdermabrasion treatment. Your provider can help you determine if you are a good candidate for microdermabrasion.
Skin Rejuvenation
What Is Microneedling?
Microneedling uses tiny needles to create micro-injuries on your skin. These micro-injuries spur on a healing environment where more collagen is produced. Collagen helps achieve smoother and firmer skin that looks refreshed and youthful. We offer SkinPen® microneedling to improve fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, age-related damage, rosacea, and more.
Laser Rejuvenation & Resurfacing
What are Fraxel DUAL Laser Treatments?
Fraxel DUAL uses a non-ablative laser to treat specific zones of the skin. A benefit of this treatment is that it can treat a certain area of your skin but leave the surrounding areas untouched, which reduces recovery time. Fraxel DUAL is great for sun damage, acne and surgical scars, age spots, and actinic keratoses.
What To Expect After Your Fraxel DUAL Treatment
You will notice some redness and swelling after your treatment, but these symptoms should subside in a few days. Typically, men and women need little to no downtime after their Fraxel DUAL session. Make sure to protect your skin with sunscreen when you go outdoors to avoid irritating your skin.
What’s the Difference Between Fraxel DUAL and Fraxel re:pair?
Fraxel re:pair laser treatment uses an ablative rather than a non-ablative laser. This is a more aggressive treatment than Fraxel DUAL as it targets the deeper layers of skin to improve severe skin concerns. Fraxel re:pair softens deep lines and wrinkles and improves skin texture.
Since it’s a more aggressive treatment than Fraxel DUAL, you will need around 2 to 3 days of downtime. However, you can achieve more dramatic results with just 1 or 2 treatments.
Gentle Laser Rejuvenation & Resurfacing
What Is Clear + Brilliant Laser Treatment?
This gentler laser treatment improves issues such as sun damage, age-related skin concerns, and texture issues. The laser used in your Clear + Brilliant treatment targets the upper layers of skin, prompting it to replace old skin cells with new, younger-looking skin. Since this is a milder treatment, you will likely need 4 to 6 treatment sessions to achieve your skin goals.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Clear + Brilliant?
Clear + Brilliant is for men and women who want to reverse the signs of skin aging or improve skin texture. This laser treatment works great on all skin types.
