Houston Dermatologist, Arash Kimyai-Asadi, MD, FAAD

Arash Kimyai-Asadi, M.D. is a board-certified dermatologist who specializes in Mohs micrographic surgery for the treatment of skin cancer. During his 3 years as an undergraduate student at the Johns Hopkins University School of Arts and Science, he completed a triple major, graduating Phi Beta Kappa with Bachelors of Arts in Biology, Philosophy, and Psychology. He subsequently attended medical school at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He received his dermatology training at the prestigious Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology at New York University, where he served as a resident and chief resident. Subsequently, he completed a Mohs micrographic surgery fellowship accredited by the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology at DermSurgery Associates with Dr. Leonard Goldberg.

During his twenty years of practice at DermSurgery Associates, Dr. Asadi has performed over 50,000 Mohs surgery and reconstructive procedures, and has helped train numerous Mohs surgery fellows as well as visiting physicians from the United States and abroad. He has published well over 100 peer-reviewed articles as well as several book chapters in clinical and surgical dermatology. His research has focused on techniques that improve cancer detection at surgical margins, thereby minimizing recurrence rates after cancers are surgically removed, as well as improved techniques for aesthetic reconstruction of the face after skin cancer removal. He is regularly invited to present his techniques and research findings at national and international meetings that focus on dermatologic and reconstructive surgery. He is a member of the American College of Mohs Surgery, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Academy of Dermatology. He has clinical privileges at the Houston Methodist Hospital and Memorial Hermann Hospital and serves as a Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at Weill Cornell Medicine. As an expert in skin cancer surgery and aesthetic reconstruction after removal of skin cancers, he actively receives numerous referrals from dermatologists around the Houston metropolitan area and beyond.
